There are moments in life when everything feels impossible. You pray, but nothing seems to move. You try, but nothing seems to change. Time passes, and only your anxiety grows. In such moments, our hearts can easily break.
Yet the Bible shows us a man who continued to trust God even in circumstances that looked utterly hopeless. That man is Abraham, described in Romans chapter 4.
He was old, and his wife Sarah was far beyond childbearing age. From a human perspective, God’s promise must have looked completely impossible. And yet, Abraham did not lose hope.
In his story, we find a profound key to understanding where the strength to “keep believing” truly comes from.
“Without weakening in his faith,he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—scince he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead.” (Romans 4:19)
Abraham did not deny reality; he saw his own limitations and Sarah’s condition clearly, yet he chose to trust God anyway. Faith is not about escaping reality—it is about facing reality honestly and still choosing to believe in God’s promise.
“Yet he did not waver throug unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthend in his faith, and gave glory to God,being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised.” (Romans 4:20–21)
Abraham’s confidence did not come from his own ability but from the character of God. God had promised—and God has the power to fulfill what He promises. This is the true foundation of faith.
We, too, have prayers that have not yet taken shape, dreams that have not yet been answered, and doors that have not yet opened. Abraham’s story speaks gently to us: “Even when you cannot see it, even when it feels delayed, God’s promise will bear fruit at the appointed time.”Faith is not believing because the situation has changed, but believing because God never changes.
So, what small step can you take today? Pray again today. Give thanks again today. Remember God’s Word again today. Refuse to give up today. Faith grows not through dramatic decisions but through the quiet accumulation of daily choices to trust. When you keep walking toward the “unseen promise,” just as Abraham did, God will surely bless your steps.
Romans 4:19–21 teaches us that faith is the power to look at reality without losing hope.Whatever prayer you are holding, whatever desire has not yet taken form, God is working—quietly, faithfully, and surely. The God who sustained Abraham is the same God who sustains you today.
Commentary
This song is a simple declaration of trusting God’s faithfulness when the way forward feels unclear. It reflects choosing hope over fear, believing that God keeps His promises, strengthens us in weakness, and guides us with His light even in the darkest moments. Please give it a listen!
